Needless to say, one cannot argue that the Writers Guild list of 101 Greatest Scripts has dozens of superb works on it. However
(and in this business, there's always a however), this writer happens to think there are a number of other screenplays which
can be considered great in their own right, and certainly well worth the time to read. That number at the moment, incidentally
(and this is subject to change), is 116 at last count.
Let me say first that these are all being movies I have enjoyed (and in many cases have seen several times) and screenplays
I think are beautifully done. Second, and perhaps more relevant to you, they are also all scripts & films of which every
screenwriter, aspiring or otherwise, writer should be aware. Hopefully, you should have seen most if not all of them.
By the way, if you think that in making up this list I've somehow overlooked some superlative little gem or that I've
included the greatest piece of crap ever filmed (which I may put on another list), please email me and make your case. I've
been known to be wrong. Not often, but still...
